Stackable certificates structure CNM's HVACR program. A Residential HVAC Certificate of Completion can be finished in as little as two terms, one additional term earns the Commercial, Industrial HVAC and Building Performance Certificate, and five terms of full-time study, under two years, completes the Associate of Applied Science in Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology.
The commercial certificate goes well beyond basic service work. Coursework covers commercial and industrial refrigeration, steam and hot water boilers and boiler controls, chillers and chiller controls, green building performance, and building automation controls. Students also produce system designs that include building load calculations, duct design, performance analysis, and code enforcement. The program holds accreditation from HVAC Excellence.
Students holding a valid OSHA certification can receive course credit through CNM's Credit for Prior Learning process, trimming time and cost from the credential. The college offers financial aid, scholarships, and flexible payment plans, with dedicated staff to walk students through funding options. The program is also built as a transfer pathway to four-year institutions for those who want further study in HVACR or related fields.
